No. Solar PV panels work with daylight, not sunlight and all roofs have light on them to some degree. As they don’t need direct sunlight, your panels will also work and produce energy on cloudy days.

How much energy will my solar panels produce?
It depends on how much direct sun your solar panels get per day and how large your system is. Of course, more shade and smaller systems produce less energy.
Your inverter or online system monitoring portal will tell you how much solar energy your system has produced to date.
How do I know if my system is working properly?
Your solar PV inverter contains electronics that will alert you in the event of a problem. Under-performance is more challenging to identify, as energy production indicated by your inverter at a particular moment can sometimes be misleading. It’s better to take an average over a week or month. If your system is underperforming, it is often because of excessively dirty panels or shading from trees or buildings.
If you suspect your panels may be underperforming and in need of repair or maintenance, please reach out as we can help.
Will I still get an electricity bill?
Unless you are completely off-grid and have a battery storage system, you will continue to receive an electricity bill – even with solar panels.
The amount of your bill will depend on how much energy your panels are producing compared to how much energy you are using. Your utility may also charge fixed fees that solar energy cannot offset.
Will my panels produce energy at night?
Your inverter will go into a sleep state when there’s not enough daylight for the system to produce solar energy, and any of your power needs will be drawn from the national grid or your battery storage system.
Once it becomes light outside, the system wakes up and will begin operating again automatically.
How long will my new solar panels last?
Solar panels often come with a 20 or 25-year warranty. They produce energy for many decades with only slight performance degradation over time. Some panels may even last for 50 years!
How long does a solar installation take?
Residential solar installation takes typically around 1-2 days to complete. Commercial solar installations can take longer depending on the size of the system and the requirements of your site.
